Fermanagh Mini Sevens Football competition - Wednesday 24th April

25th Apr 2024

Holy Trinity boys and girls teams took part in the 'Fermanagh Mini Sevens' football competition in Derrygonnelly on wednesday 24th April.  Both teams played extremely well in some very competitive games.

The girls won two games in the league stage beating St Columban’s PS Belcoo and St Davog’s PS Belleek. This meant that they qualified for the semi finals against St Martins Garrison.  Again this game was extremely close and the girls played well and tried hard to the end being narrowly beaten. St Martins went on to win the final, qualifying as section winners.  Congratulations girls you played extremely well and represented the school very well on and off the pitch.

The boys team played three games in the league stages against St Davogs, St Columbans and Killyhommon, winning all three games well, playing some lovely football and taking some great scores.  This qualified them for the sem-final against St Martins.  They played a very close, competitive, game with St Martins who had some strong players.  The boys kept going to the end and with great determination won through to the final. The Final was against the Integrated Primary school who had won through to the final with some high scoring results. This was always going to be a close game against two strong teams.  The game was a draw after full time and went in to extra time.  It was a very tense affair with both teams battling for every possession.  As the boys got tired after their very close semi final and now into extra time they started to fade and the Integrated took the winning scores.  Again like the girls the boys tried so hard and played really well only to lose out in the very end to a very strong opposition. Well done boys in your performances and in how you represented our school. 👏⚽
